Hetch Hetchy Reservoir Trail

DESCRIPTION

While iconic Yosemite Valley is the crown jewel of Yosemite, there is a much lesser-known region. It is almost like a secret entrance or exclusive section of Yosemite that few know of or have visited, yet it is just as awe-inspiring as its rival, Yosemite Valley. Hetch Hetchy Reservoir, may sound familiar as it is the source of drinking water for much of San Francisco, but it is also a huge part of Yosemite National Park. The entrance to Hetch Hetchy is on Evergreen Road, located off Highway 120, just before the Big Oak Flat entrance to Yosemite. The geography of the granite walls and waterfalls are similar to that of the Valley, but with a striking deep blue reservoir in the middle. With the impressive O'Shaughnessy Dam standing 430-feet-tall, wildflowers blooming, and the roaring Wapama Falls, Hetch Hetchy is a hidden gem with plenty to see and do.
