Join in with retired Columbia College Forestry Instructor Ross Carkeet on a historic car caravan tour along Highway 108 from Cold Springs to the Douglas Picnic Area.
Carkeet will share historic stories and lore at the historic Cow Creek Ranger Station site, Donnell Vista, and the historic Haye's Station site in Eureka Valley. The Douglas Picnic Area will serve as a picnic lunch site around 1:00 PM. Born and raised in Sonora, Carkeet has spent considerable time in the upper elevations of the Stanislaus National Forest. During his 39 year tenure at Columbia Junior College, he taught Forestry, Natural Resources and Biology.
Meet at Cold Springs Market overflow parking area on Hwy. 108 at 9:00 AM. Bring your lunch and drinking water, walking shoes, sun screen, hat and folding chair (optional). Car pooling is encouraged.
Pre-registration is required as attendance is limited. Register by calling the History Center - Tuolumne County Museum at 209-532-4227. This is a free event.
