Columbia Diggins Tent Town 1852

Each year, the docents and staff of Columbia State Historic Park strive to recreate the early tent town that gave rise to Columbia. Thousands of hours of research goes into recreating the material culture and the activities of the town. On your visit you’ll see a working bakery, hotel, saloons, theater, blacksmith, wheelright, livestock and of course, active mining using recreated tools and equipment from the time. You’ll even have an opportunity to try it yourself!
