Christmas Town Sonora Returns November 27th
Sonora, CA (October 30, 2024)— With a chill finally in the air, a fun-packed Christmas Town is less than a month away! Christmas Town Sonora returns for its 4th season on November 27th. Begun in 2020, the Sonora Chamber of Commerce, with partners Visit Tuolumne County and the City of Sonora, has succeeded in creating a nationally and internationally acclaimed Christmas Town.
The annual celebration, designed to draw tourists and locals alike to downtown Sonora during the holiday season, Christmas Town returns with sparkling lights and holiday decorations throughout the Historic district, a Christmas Tree Lane with decorated trees
from area non-profits, Santa and Mrs. Claus, a North Pole mailbox, gingerbread house building, Holly Jolly Trolley rides, caroling, as well as new attractions, including a youth-oriented holiday dance with DJ Santa and a Christmas Story Hour with Adult Beverages..
The list of Christmas Town special events is both inclusive and extensive:
- A Lighting Ceremony illuminates St James Church, Courthouse Square and Washington St. businesses, officially beginning Christmas Town Sonora
- Christmas Tree Lane features Christmas Trees from county nonprofits in Courthouse Park
- A Holiday Window Display Contest awards prizes for mayor's, voters’, and the Sonora High School Leadership class choices
- The Holly Jolly Wagon offers horse-drawn carriage rides around downtown Sonora on December Saturdays
- The Giving Tree at Wildbud Co. supports a county nonprofit (Center For A Nonviolent Community for 2024)
- Gingerbread house making with Santa & Mrs. Claus features storyteller BZ smith and the Blue Shoes Ukulele Orchestra
- A Holiday Celtic Music Concert stars Sequoia Tree-O at St James Church
- Letters to Santa read live on KAAD-LP
- Holiday Crafting with TC Arts engages creatives at the Aronos Research Club
- Mirth & Glee Street Carolers entertain on holiday weekends
- Old Tyme Holiday Radio Show with KAAD-LP hits the airwaves at the Opera Hall (NEW!)
- Holiday Dance with DJ Santa (12-17 years) spins tunes at the Aronos Club (NEW!)
- Christmas Story Hour with Adult Beverages guarantees holiday cheer to Nox Coffee (NEW!)
