Media Release - (On Behalf of the Tuolumne Historical Railroad Association)  Tuolumne Historical Railroad Weekend

West Side Reunion -April 20

Sierra Railway Seminar-April 21

Tuolumne Historical Railroad Association Banquet-April 20

The weekend of April 20-21 is a special time for historical railroad fans and those who treasure our local and regional heritage.  The sights, sounds and romance experienced when “riding the rails” is dependent on preservation, restoration and regularly scheduled maintenance.  THRA is one small cog in that important and ongoing effort and is dedicated to education, collaboration and fundraising support.

On Saturday, April 20, at 6:00 pm the  community is invited to participate in a banquet and after dinner presentation by Scott McGhee, General Manager of Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad.  Scott will provide an in-depth look at former Westside Shay locomotives #10 and #15 which are in regular operation at YMSPR.  He will include information and photos regarding their history, major rebuilds, recent discoveries and more!   There will be a raffle drawing for a grand prize of a “West Side Shay Lover’s Dream Excursion for Four” which includes two cab rides and two additional first class tickets to ride in YMSPR’s newly refurbished caboose, built from West Side Lumber Company dormitory car #11.  This dinner and event will be held at the Black Oak Casino Resort.

Tickets are available at tuolumnerailroad.org.
