Jen Lopez | 03/02/2018 | Exploring Tuolumne County, Family, Outdoor Adventure, Winter Fun

by Mackenzie Rodgers, Digital Content Coordinator

Our locals have been captivated by High Sierra winters since 1850. Now, its your turn to come explore Tuolumne County's variety of activities.

Ice Skating in a Historic Lodge Located just off of Highway 108 is Long Barn Lodge, a hidden gem destination that stands out for its 49er roots and mountaineering spirit. Once an actual barn built to house miners mules in the gold rush winters, this Lodge is now a beautiful ice rink. Just lace up some skates and GO. Tell them we sent you for a $1 off your skate rental!

Local Gourmet Dining Nearby, in the quiet little mountain town of Twain Harte, is eco-friendly dining at Cibos. Enjoy the ambiance of this green restaurant that values local food and decor made of recycled backyard based wood elements. Up for some wood fired pizza Mias, in Long Barn, is known for their wood-fired pizza and local beers on tap.

Winter Wonderland Walks Dress warm and hit the Sugar Pine Rail Trail from Twain Harte to Lyons Reservoir. This fairly flat, 10 mile round trip trail is packed with vista views and evergreens. This season, it is a winter wonderland for walkers, bikers, equestrians, and -weather permitting- cross country skiers.

Nearby Snowy Slopes Winter adventure awaits at Leland High Sierra Snowplay. Here, youll the biggest and snow play facility in the Sierra! All tubes included with lift tickets. After several thrilling runs, some hot chocolate in the dining area with family and friends is the cherry on top of a lively snow day.

Hidden Mountain Stay Stay centrally located to outdoor recreation at The Cabins at Strawberry. This year-round woodland getaway neighbors lakes, hikes, and forest views. In Twain Harte, the mountain town hub of our Upper Highway 108, youll find with dining, recreational trails, and quaint boutiques, within walking distance. and enjoy a relaxing retreat at one of the area's vacation cabins.
